The 991.2 was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015 and received a mid-cycle facelift for model year 2017. The main exterior changes included updated front and rear bumpers, new dual exhaust pipes for the sports exhaust option as well as new head and tail lights. A few new options were also available, but the most significant change was the introduction of the 3.0L twin-turbocharged flat-six engines across the model range. This was the first time the base 911 had turbocharged engines in the history of the 911. In 2017, Porsche introduced the Carrera T for the 2018 model year. A “back to basics” 911 based on the entry level Carrera. It featured a host of sport orientated extras as standard which included a shorter gear ratio, a limited slip differential, lowered suspension, sports exhaust and sport chrono as standard. A few weight saving measures include thinner glass for the rear and rear side windows, less noise insulation, and sport-tex cloth seats.
