2002 BMW 525i Touring (E39)

R 195 000(SOLD)

The E39 5 Series was produced by BMW between 1995 and 2004. The fourth generation 5 Series was initially launched as a sedan and the “touring”, or station wagon, was introduced in 1996. The petrol variants were available with either a M52 straight-six that varied in capacity or a M62 V8 that also varied in compacity depending on model. These engines were updated in 1998 with double Vanos for the 6 and single Vanos for the 8 to increase torque at the bottom end. For the facelift in 2000, the 6-cylinder M52 was replaced by the M54.

The E39 was a big technological safety advance for BMW. It as well as the E38 7 Series were among the first vehicles to come standard with curtain airbags. Other advances included navigation systems using CD-ROMS and later DVD maps in 2002.

The car on offer is a 2002 525i Touring with an unbelievable 46 000 km on the clock from new! The car has a good service history over its two-owner lifespan. The M54 straight 6 engine in 2.5L configuration delivers 141kW and 245Nm of torque. Power is delivered to the real wheels via a smooth 5-speed automatic gearbox.

Impeccable build quality and a true sense of luxury from arguably the best era of motoring. A “do it all car” at a very attractive price.
