1966 Mercedes Benz 250 SE Coupe W111

R 795 000(SOLD)

The Mercedes Benz W111 was built from 1959 to 1971. The model range included four-door sedans and two-door coupes and cabriolets. The sedan models had distinctive tailfins and the car was known as the “Fintail”. On the Coupe and Cabriolet models the tailfins were almost not noticeable.

The W111 Coupe replaced the Ponton Coupe and also started off as a 220 SE with the 2195cc M127 engine. This was later upgrade to the 250 SE and eventually in 1967 the 250 SE was replaced by the 280 SE. The new 2778cc M130 engine produced 119kW. Top speed was around 200km/h and zero to 100km/h took 10.5 seconds.

Inside, the car received a wood veneer option on the dashboard and other minor changes, including door lock buttons and different heater levers. The hubcaps as well as the exterior mirrors were changed.

This specific car is a 1966 250 SE and has done only 76,000kms since new. The car was restored about 12 years ago. Whilst it still looks absolutely beautiful It does need tiding up again with a few surface rust spots on the body and one or two beadings that need to be replaced. Mechanically the car is excellent! Finished in metallic grey with tan interior, this is a very stylish classic car that is admired by old and young alike!
