2001 TVR Chimaera 500 (FOR SALE)
The TVR Chimaera was first seen at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1992. It is a two-seater sports car manufactured between 1992 and 2003. It uses the same backbone chassis as the TVR Griffith and Rover V8 engine derivatives. The name was derived from Chimera, a monstrous creature from Greek mythology, which was made of the parts of multiple animals; very apt for this TVR, made up with parts from multiple cars and, some would say, almost monstrous looks!
Just under 6000 Chimaeras were built in the 11 years of production, and it is believed there are only three Chimaera 500’s in SA. The Chimaera is a very quick sports car, even by todays standards. With a curb weight of only 1060kgs and a big 5.0L V8 producing 254kW, zero to 100km/h takes only 4,1 seconds and top speed is around 282 km/h!
This specific car is a 2001 model with only 50 000kms on from new. It is finished in a dark green metallic with beige leather interior. It has been well maintained. It drives beautifully and the sound of that V8 engine is something to experience!
