1996 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Clubsport (993)
The 993 RS is a lightweight version of the standard Carrera.
The car could be distinguished by a large rear fixed wing, a different front bumper with a wrap around front spoiler as well as air intakes next to the indicator lights. The car was fitted with 18 inch 3 piece rims. Headlight washers were deleted for weight saving purposes. On the interior, the rear seats were taken out and sound proofing was reduced to the minimum. The car had special race seats with very basic door panels. The door handle was replaced by a pull strap.
The RS Clubsport was a track orientated version of the standard RS with limited road usability. The car came with a welded in roll cage, carbon fiber racing bucket seats, seat belt harnesses, a fire extinguisher and a battery kill switch. In an effort to reduce weight the car had no carpeting or sound proofing. The radio, air conditioner and power windows were also deleted. The same 3.8L engine was used as in the normal RS, producing 221kW or 296hp. This was the last air cooled 911 RS Porsche produced. The next RS version of the 911 was the 996 RS that was produced in 2004.
Only 19 of the 993 RS cars were imported by the Agents between 1995 and 1996, of which only two were Clubsport versions.
