Are you looking for a Land Rover Defender 110 for sale?

The Defender is a series of offroad vehicles produced by British manufacturer Land Rover. It was originally produced during the Second World War as Land Rover 90 or 110 for military use with “90” or “110” referring to the length of the wheelbase. The Land Rover quickly gained a reputation for being tough and rugged. It used a steel ladder frame chassis with aluminium bodywork. The engine was a detuned versions of Rover engines and featured switchable four-wheel drive systems.

With the introduction of the Discovery in 1989 and Land Rover becoming the name of a broader marque, the Land Rover became the Land Rover Defender in 1990 to avoid confusion. It was not a new model by any means but there were significant changes such as coil spring suspension instead of leaf springs previously used. Coil springs offered improved ride quality and better chassis articulation. A lockable centre diff was added allowing for permanent 4-wheel drive on and off road. The interiors received an upgrade by means of door cards and padded dashboards.

The Camel Trophy was an annual off-road expedition event known for using Land Rovers between 1980 and 2000. The terrain was extremely tough and thus the cars were kitted out with a host of modifications to make them fit for duty by Land Rover Special Vehicles. These included snorkels, under body protection, roll cages, winches and many more distinguishing modifications including the iconic “Sandglow” paint work.

This specific car is a 1993 Land Rover Defender 110. Other than the iconic paintwork that features throughout, the car has a lot of modifications that appear to have come out of the factory like that. It features a unique bumper, under body protection, special fuel tanks, water tanks and a built-in roll cage that all seem “factory fitted”. Perhaps the most intriguing anomaly this car features is the absence of a trim level and colour code on the chassis plate, common on a Land Rover Special Vehicle. Being a 1993 model, the car would not have been used in the actual event but would have been a support vehicle.

A rare opportunity to own a very special Land Rover Defender with many special parts and evidence of being used as intended. A car with many stories to tell.
