The Starion is a two-door sports coupe, manufactured by Mitsubishi from 1982 to 1989. It was a 4-cylinder turbocharged car and one of the first modern Japanese turbocharged performance cars with electronic fuel injection.

In the early 80s, Mitsubishi wanted to produce a world-class GT car to compete on equal ground with the Nissan Z cars, Toyota’s Supra, the Mazda RX-7 and even the Porsche 924. That car was the Starion.

When the Starion first came out in 1982 it was more striking than the ageing Datsun 280ZX, the Mazda RX7 and even the newly launched Celica Supra. Styling was influenced by the Porsche 924, but Mitsubishi opted for an angular and wedge interpretation so that it had a character of its own. Even after 40 years it still looks striking! Mitsubishi was the pioneer in turbocharging technology in Japan and the car was fitted with the 4G63 four-cylinder engine with twin balance shafts, fuel injection and single turbocharger. Top speed was around 220km/h and zero to 100 km/h took 7,5 seconds, not even the new Porsche 944 could fend off its challenge!

This specific car is believed to be one of only a handful of cars brough into South Africa by Sigma and offered to the DPs. It is a one owner car that is accident free and has been well maintained, although the service books were lost when the owner moved to Stellenbosch. The car is finished in original Meison gold metallic with original tan interior.

A great Japanese GT car from the 1980s available to someone looking for an extremely rare and unique car!
