The MK2 Ford Escort was produced between 1975 and 1980. Escort MK2 body shells, built in Halewood, England were also assembled in South Africa at Fords Silverton factory. It was a squarer-styled car and first appeared in January 1975. The L-and GL models were aimed at the mainstream market while the Sport, Mexico and RS2000 were aimed at the performance market.
