The Alfa Romeo Spider was launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1966.
The first Spider was fitted with a 1570 cc twin cam engine with two Weber side-draft carburettors and produced 80kW or 108 hp. The car also featured a 5-speed manual transmission, disc brakes all round and 15-inch rims fitted with Pirelli 155HR15 tyres. The first Spiders had a distinctive elongated round tail, often referred to as the “boat-tail” or more officially the “Duetto”.

In 1970 some changes were made to the 1750 Spider Veloce. The elongated round tail was revised to a Kamm tail or “square back”, to improve luggage space. Other changes included new door handles, changed grill, a more raked windscreen, top-hinged pedals and improved interior trim. In 1971 the first 1962 cc engine was fitted, producing 98kW. Consequently, the name was changed to 2000 Spider Veloce.

This specific car is a 1974 2000 Spider Veloce and has done 67 000km from new. The car is mostly original, except for an accidental respray several years ago, to a very high standard. The canvas roof is almost brand new, and the car is mechanically very good with an exceptionally smooth engine and gearbox.
This is a great example of a very popular and iconic Italian sports car from Alfa Romeo.
