2004 Porsche 911 GT3 RS (996)
The 996 GT3 RS was announced in 2003 as a homologation version of the GT3 RSR racing car for competition events like Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The drivetrain of the RS is based on the 911 GT3, except for the addition of a lightweight flywheel and closer gear ratios for further improved response under acceleration. The RS features a rollcage, painted carbon fiber bonnet, exposed carbon mirror caps and a large exposed carbon fiber rear wing. Less sound deadening and a plexi glass rear window also help save weight. The rear spoiler and roll-cage gives the 996 RS better down force and a more rigid body than its ordinary GT3 sibling making it a more track focused road car.
The 996 RS is distinguished by its distinctive color scheme – white with red wheels or white with blue wheels.
The GT3 RS was 20 kg lighter than a standard GT3 and weighed in at 1370kgs. The 3,6L flat six cylinder engine produces 280 Kw. Top speed is 310 km/h and zero to 100 comes up in 4.4s.
This particular car has done 24 820 kms from new and has a full service history with Porsche SA. The car is finished in White with red decals and wheels.
Only a hand full of these cars came to South Africa and this is a great example. An exhilarating driving experience! Porsche motoring at its very best!
