2004 Porsche 911 GT3 RS (996)

R 3 595 000(SOLD)

Are you looking for a 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 RS for sale?

The 996 GT3 RS was introduced in late 2003, a more track-focused version of the standard GT3.  “RS” is short for the German Renn Sport, translated to “racing sport” in English.

The RS was lighter than the standard GT3thanks to a polycarbonate rear window, carbon fibre bonnet, rear wing and side mirror housings. Ceramic brakes were optional but, if fitted shaved another 27kgs off the already low 1360kgs curb weight!

The engine specification is slightly different. The cylinder heads on the RS have reshaped intake and exhaust ports for race homologation. Porsche claims the same 381 hp as the standard GT3 but Porsches control dyno showed a jump to nearly 400 hp or 298 kW! The RS also has progressive springs, and dampers nearly 15 precent stiffer than the standard car on bounce and rebound. The wheel carriers were completely redesigned to maximize the dynamic camber control. The suspension top mounts can be turned 120 degrees to a Cup car position. Front and rear control arms are adjustable, and the RS is 3mm lower than the standard GT3. Zero to 100km/h took 4,3 seconds and top speed was 306km/h. The Nürburgring time was 7:43, four seconds faster than the 996 GT2!

This specific car has done only 37000kms from new and has a full-service history from Porsche SA. The car is in impeccable condition, without a mark on the interior and exterior.  682 996 RSs were produced in total, making the 996 RS the rarest of all RS cars produced thus far. Only 140 RHD cars were produced; the bulk of them exported to the UK; 20 odd cars made it to South African shores.

This is a unique opportunity to own one of the best examples of this rare and special Porsche!
