1985 Mercedes Benz 500 SL R107
The R107 Mercedes Benz SL was produced from 1971 to 1989. It was replaced by the R129. It was the second longest single ever produced by Mercedes, after the G –Class.
The SL was a two-seater convertible with a standard soft top and an optional hardtop available as well. You could also spec your car with folding seat for the rear bench.
The 500 SL was fitted with a 177kW, V8 engine. It produced 402Nm of torque and top speed was 225km/h. In 1985 the mechanical fuel injection was replaced by the Bosch KE Jetronic system, with a more modern engine management computer. It controlled idle speed, fuel rate and air/fuel mixture. The final 500 SL was produced in August 1989, finished in Signal Red. The car currently resides in the Mercedes Benz museum in Stuttgart.
