1957 Volkswagen Kombi Split Window
Volkswagen announced their second model range in 1950, known as the Volkswagen Type 2. Informally, depending on the body type we know it as the Bus, Kombi, Transporter, Microbus or a Camper.
The very first generation of the Type 2 from 1950 to 1967 had a split front windscreen and was known as the Splittie or the Splitscreen. These cars were fitted with the 1100 air-cooled engines with the first ones producing a whopping 18kW, or 24hp! In 1953 engine capacity was increased to 1200cc and power went up almost 30% to 22kW and 30hp. In 1955 a higher compression ratio became standard.
This specific car is a 1957 model. It is finished in two-tone Sea foam green and Ivory. The car has been very tastefully restored a few years ago with lots of attention to detail. Engine and drive train is standard. Interior is done in diamond pattern tan leather with wood and carpets on the floor.
This car is a pleasure to drive and turns heads wherever you go. A rare opportunity to own one of these iconic busses!
